How do I start?
Follow these five simple steps:
- Choose your service – proofreading or copyediting
- Find your turnaround time
- Add together your two word charges (for steps 1 & 2) and multiply by your word count for a total charge
- Send me your selections (for steps 1 & 2) and the total word count of the document, using the below form
- Email me your document to be proofed
- If you’d prefer to work on an hourly rate rather than by the word, contact me for a quote.
Good copyeditors often identify more complex, structural editing issues that have been overlooked in drafting the document. This is included in our service, but the remedy may cost a little more.
1. Standard copyediting
- Your copyedited document will be returned displaying all corrections
- Copyediting focuses on: grammar, punctuation, spelling, capitalisation, typos as well as consistency, formatting, style, and accuracy of text. Copy editing is a far more detailed process than proofreading.
- Tracked changes will be displayed if supplied in Word doc format
- Clean version as well as tracked changes version supplied
- Comments will be inserted, highlighting any suggestions – if supplied in Word doc format
- Suggestions for overall stregthening of document may accompany copyediting changes, if more structural editing is needed
- Structural editing is also done – looking at both the content and structure as a cohesive whole – and if required, contact me for a quote or a sample of the work.

If you need a quote for our copyediting service on anything longer than 5,000 words, please contact me with your word count, and ideal turnaround time.
Turnaround time takes effect from receipt of document by email. International time zone differences should be taken into account.
3. Total Charge
Add together the word charge from steps 1 and 2 and multiply by your document word count.
Standard copyediting charge + turnaround time x word count = total charge
Note that overseas orders require a 50% deposit up front.
More complex, structural editing changes (if required) look at both the content and structure of a document as a cohesive whole. If this is required, you will be contacted, and further charges may apply.
4. Book your work
Send me your selections for steps 1 & 2, along with word count and document format using the form below.
5. Sending the work
Email me your document to be copyedited, and include any special instructions or needs, including style guidelines (these may attract extra charges).
